Personal Energy Management

Before we start, some definitions:

Transmutation is the process whereby misqualified energy is returned, or raised to its pure state.

Substance is an all encompassing term for misqualified energy and matter.  It is that which needs to be transmuted into a higher level.

An entity is an amalgamation of subconscious energies into a coherent form, such as a family entity or business entity.  As such, entities take on a life of their own and influence those involved.

            We live in a world of energy.  The purpose of this report is to discuss the management of energy from a personal standpoint, i.e. how we as individuals can learn to identify and manage the energies of our beings and the energies we encounter in our daily lives.  This assumes, of course, that each of us is interested in some kind of spiritual development and that we wish to optimize our potential and be conscious, creative beings.

Energy Basics

            All energy we experience has a higher source and it is the vitalizing essence behind all manifestation.  It is stepped down through systems and hierarchies, much like the distribution of electrical energy throughout a great network of transmission lines eventually to the local service coming into out homes.  There are many ways to describe and discuss this, but for the sake of brevity the underlying principles are expressed into this system via three primary rays - the First Ray (Will or Purpose, Father principle, Electric Fire), Second Ray (Love-Wisdom, Christ or Buddhic principle, Solar Fire) and Third Ray (Active Intelligence, Holy Spirit principle, Fire by Friction).  Everything else is a subset of these three principles or Ray energies.

            We, as personalities, live in a world of mostly Third Ray energies, and its four subsets.  The goal of each life stream is for a linking between the Higher Selves and the personality to such a degree that higher energies can begin the raising process of the lower - resulting in the Initiate, the Spiritualized individual.  But this is a subject for another time.

            Energy always needs a structure or vehicle to operate through.  Just as a home needs wiring to distribute electricity to each outlet, we live in a world of systems, structures and outlets.  Consider the following: 

-The personality is animated by Soul energy delivered by means of the 'silver chord’ or 'antahkarana'. 

-Radio and television (the outlets) deliver energy that is transmitted via an energy 'wave'.

-Light and sound energy is carried by measurable elements, photons in the case of light.

-Ideas, concepts and thoughts are put into words and pictures.

-Emotions and feelings can be transmitted via astral material that is tangible and palpable.

Whether seen or not, energies are being put forth.  The most sensitive receiver of the various energies of the world is the human mechanism, but not all of this is conscious.

The Personal Perspective

            Let’s view this subject from the standpoint of the individual.  We are subject to numerous onslaughts on a daily basis.  The sketch in figure 1 illustrates this.  Here is a list of major energy sources we regularly encounter.

                        -School

                        -Clubs, social & service organizations

                        -Sports

                        -Religious

                        -Unions, professional organizations

                        -Governmental, local, state, national

                        -Cultural

                        -Mass Consciousness

                        -Racial

                        -Planetary

                        -Solar

                        -Cosmic

-Individual:     -Opinions of others

                        -Emotions of others

                        -Media: news, entertainment, advertising

                        -Subconscious of others

                        -Personal and Group Karma:  energies, memories

                        -Animal and other Kingdoms

                        -Devas and elementals

                        -Qualities imbued in material objects:  clothes, cars, products, etc.

                        -Noises:  Manmade and Natural

This is not intended to be comprehensive, but an indication of the range of energy influences impacting each of us on a continuing basis. 

            Further, we are influenced by our particular plan and growth potential for any particular embodiment.  We will assume that if you are reading this you are moving beyond the development of the personality mechanism and moving into, at least, the process of Soul infusion in the personality.  This is not to say the personality is perfect, but it is sufficiently developed that it can be influenced by and be a vehicle of the Soul.  By the way, this can occur whether you believe in or even know you have a Higher Self.  Specific beliefs are unimportant, it is the quality of consciousness and energy that is.

            There are still many problems that people have when seeking a path of growth.  The struggles consist largely of bringing aspects of the personality into line and separating sufficiently from mass consciousness that this is possible.

            The Master Djwhal Khul, writing through Alice A. Bailey in A Treatise on White Magic:

            "The problem of many aspirants today is that of the solar plexus, for it is wide open, actively functioning, and almost fully awakened.  The work of transmutation is however going on simultaneously, leading - as one might naturally suppose - to a good deal of difficulty and to chaotic conditions.  The heart center is also beginning to vibrate, but it is not yet awakened; the throat center is frequently prematurely awakened, through the transfer of energy from the sacral center."

            The well developed personality frequently has overactive centers, especially the solar plexus and ajna (emotional and lower mental natures, respectively), that run rampant, put out excess energy and generally wallow in the energies of the lower bodies.  Overreaction and selfish indulgence in one’s own emotions or thoughts is the norm.

            Thus we have another list of energies to cope with, those that are internal to ourselves:

                        -Bodies (emotional, mental, etheric double, physical)

                        -Center or chakras (major and minor)

                        -Personal subconscious

                        -Soul/higher self

                        -Karma working out

                        -Self image/concepts/emotional patterns, etc.

            So, we’re ending up with two sets of issues to deal with in the management of energies - those energies of the outside world and those from within ourselves.

Undertaking the Management of Energy

            There are several prerequisites for management of energy.  First is the desire and commitment to do so, for it requires a level of personal commitment to truth and reality.  Second is the willingness to become conscious on many more levels than at present.  This is not intended to sound ominous, but present an honest perspective.  Most people enjoy being unconscious, for then you don’t have to take responsibility.  The predominate center - usually the solar plexus - rules and we basically continually to do what we want, in other words, the path of least resistance for the personality.  This is the path of adolescence and not one for the aspirant and seeker of the light.  For those wishing to transcend the personality and achieve a greater level of energy and consciousness, then awareness and management of personal energy is essential.  This is not to imply that someone merely decides one day to aspire to higher consciousness, it is an imperative of the Soul that is felt in the personality as a compulsion, initially mild and growing in strength with application.

            Again DK:

            "It will be apparent, therefore, that a study of the types of energy is of practical usefulness and will tend to leave no part of the aspirant’s nature untouched."

            Several conditions are essential.

            Working with others of common beliefs and aspirations will allow the creation of an atmosphere of support and trust that will encourage self-investigation and objective feedback from outside.  It is difficult to open up and see ourselves as we truly are without such an environment. 

            Also, a desire for detachment is necessary.  Some friends will react as this is implemented, for you are changing the rules of interaction, which is disturbing when 'subconscious agreements' are in place.  We are so accustomed to the free exchange of personal energies, that disruption of this process can disrupt personal relationships.  But how can you tell what is yours and what you truly think and feel about something if you are totally connected to everyone and everything.  This is why it’s called 'mass consciousness'.  So, impersonality is a key to the path.

            The activity of the Soul, or Higher Self in the personality is an essential ingredient and is the result of life times of application.  The Soul is necessary for conscious transmutation of misqualified energies to occur.  Misqualified energies are those that have been twisted or perverted by people or conditions from their true intent.  The personality is an expression of misqualified energies, but not to worry, this is the training process on Earth, as this time, to learn how to use and express energies correctly, i.e. learn by misuse.
